Tribology Training identifies high risk areas

According to the release, tribology is the study of the interaction of sliding surfaces, and those who analyze slip-and-fall accidents use the knowledge of tribology to examine the amount of friction between shoe bottoms and the floor surface.
The Tribology Training classes will consist of a series of advisories, quizzes, studies and other related information, the release stated.
JoAnne Boston, business development manager for Crown Mats and Matting, said, "We are hearing a lot more about slip-and-fall accidents, but the crucial role matting plays in preventing slips-and-falls is often overlooked."
Some of the information from the classes will be posted on the company''''s website and made available to key industry-related publications, the release noted.
The friction between shoe bottoms and the floor surface can vary depending on several factors, including but not limited to the type of floor and the finished used, the equipment utilized and the condition of shoe bottoms, the release added.
