Success in the cleaning industry is determined, in part, by how well building service contractors can develop and manage their relationships. For example, savvy contractors seek advice from their peers to manage growing pains and survive challenging times. Great distributor relationships provide BSCs with products that boost productivity, create cleaning efficiencies and even save money. Finally, BSCs need to have a trusting relationship with clients. Each needs to understand the other’s pain points, be willing to adapt and, at times, show patience.
Unfortunately, this last relationship is the hardest to come by, and based on my experience, it’s a relationship that doesn’t happen often. It’s an understatement to say that BSCs and facility executives need to get to know each other better. A new event in 2019 will be the perfect place to make this happen.
Clean Buildings Expo is a new trade show created by Contracting Profits’ parent company Trade Press Media Group, and ISSA. The Baltimore event debuts March 26-27, 2019, and will feature an exhibit hall of cleaning manufacturers, as well as 20-plus education sessions covering the latest trends and key issues.
What sets this show apart from others in the industry, however, is its co-location with NFMT, the premier event in the facilities management market, which is also produced by Trade Press Media Group. By co-locating these two events, BSCs and facility executives have a chance to network together, share their knowledge and experiences, and learn about each other’s challenges — which will help improve this key relationship.

Last issue there was so much to share following our acquisition by FORUM MEDIA GROUP and the retirement of our longtime CEO, I didn’t get a chance to welcome our new Associate Editor Jake Meister. Jake is a savvy reporter with years of newspaper publishing experience. He’ll be attending the BSCAI Executive Management Conference in May. If you see him, introduce yourself so he, too, can build great industry relationships
