Industry Service Award
This award is presented to a company that has provided long-time service to the association and building service contractors. This year’s winner is Kärcher North America, Camas, Washington.
Kärcher, a family-owned enterprise based in Winnenden, Germany, is a provider of floor scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums, steam cleaners, sweepers and cleaning agents. Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. KG employs more than 11,000 people in 60 countries.
Kärcher North America is one of the largest subsidiaries of the Kärcher Group with more than 1,150 employees in eight locations, including four manufacturing facilities. In North America, Kärcher produces and distributes products and services under the brands Kärcher, Windsor Kärcher Group, Prochem Kärcher Group, Landa Kärcher Group, Hotsy, Water Maze, Spraymart, Cuda and Shark. The company’s solutions serve customers’ cleaning needs in an economical and environmentally friendly manner.
“You can always count on Darren Bonacquisti and Chris Wright of Kärcher to be there for you,” says Kruse. “They seem to have an endless amount of energy for the association.”
Arthur C. Barraclough Community Service Award
This award recognizes volunteer efforts and generous acts for charities and the community. This year’s winner is Vonachen Services Inc. (VSI), Peoria, Illinois.
Each year, VSI leaders dedicate a percentage of their time and money to nonprofit organizations. To date the company supports more than 55 different agencies. This all started with Founder Jay Vonachen’s belief in doing the right thing by giving back and helping others. Not only has Jay committed a significant amount of his time to support these organizations through volunteering and board leadership, but he also fostered the culture in the company where others are encouraged to do the same.
Jay and his son Matt Vonachen volunteer their time and business expertise to several local nonprofits in their community. The company’s support of the Central Illinois United Way campaign has brought VSI the distinguished honor of achieving a “GOLD” campaign status (the highest honor) for the past 10 years. This company-wide effort involves all employees at all levels.
A company project that sets Vonachen Services Inc. apart from other local companies is the VSI Santa Program. Through employee donations matched by the company, all VSI hourly employees’ children are given Christmas gifts specifically purchased for them each holiday season. It is Vonachen Services’ belief that hourly employees should not have the worry of affording gifts for their children at Christmas.
“It is a true honor to be the recipient of this award,” says Matt. “Our culture and foundation for community service began with our founder, Jay Vonachen, and will continue through future generations to come.”
